TDK, which emerged as part of Atatürk's language reform, works to simplify the language, Turkify foreign words and promote the effective use of Turkish. Activities and publications related to various disciplines such as linguistics, literature, culture and art also fall within the scope of this institution.

    FOUNDATION AND EARLY YEARS
TDK was established under the auspices of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Türkiye, with the aim of modernizing and preserving Turkish. During this period, the use of a simpler and more comprehensible Turkish was encouraged, departing from Ottoman Turkish. The institution made great efforts to standardize the language.

    PUBLICATIONS AND EVENTS
TDK organizes many publications and activities that contribute to the development of Turkish. These publications include Turkish dictionaries, grammar books, various scientific researches and studies on Turkish literature. In addition, seminars, conferences and language competitions are organized to encourage the correct use of Turkish.

    TECHNOLOGY AND TDK
In this age of rapid technological development, the role of TDK is also evolving. Modern tools such as online dictionaries and language apps are also being developed to adapt to the digitalization of language and new language habits brought about by the internet.

GUARDIAN OF THE LANGUAGE TODAY'S TURKISH LANGUAGE INSTITUTION
The Turkish Language Association recognizes that language is a living entity and aims to protect and develop it at the same time. In order for Turkish to survive in the globalizing world, it focuses meticulously on issues such as adding new words and updating the definitions of existing words.

IN THE DEEP WATERS OF LANGUAGE

The Turkish Language Association is an integral part of Turkish culture and identity. Language is one of the most powerful tools through which a nation can best express its feelings and thoughts. TDK has undertaken an important task to preserve this power of Turkish and pass it on to future generations.
